You gotta feel the positive vibes when you get ’em. There’s enough bad stuff going on in the world to make you want to crawl back into bed and stay there, so when we find things that make us feel optimistic, we are eager to spread the joy.
Our advice: You can only stay miserable, stressed or anxious for so long, before something’s gotta give. We need to laugh, escape, and allow the brain to decompress, and. enjoy life. That’s why everyone loves baseball, right? To feel good and not sweat the small stuff for a little while… Or maybe for you it’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, American Idol, silly cat videos, or Survivor.
Laughter, smiling and feeling positive is the best medicine, banishing depression and helping the body heal. The average adult laughs 17 times a day while a child laughs 300 times a day. We need more positive thoughts since when we laugh, it release neuropeptides that help fight stress and illnesses. Laughter boosts the number of antibody-producing cells, which leads to a stronger immune system.
So while these are not knee-slappers, they certainly made us smile and feel a sense of delight. Here’s our tour de smiles this week.
- The Women’s NCAA Final Garnered 18.7 Million Viewers (24 Million) at Its Highest Point, a New Record! Women athletes finally get the admiration they deserve.
- The Solar Eclipse Brought Us Together, Reminding Us We Are All Human Beings Sharing One Rock in Space. Park the differences and grab the glasses!
- Mt. Etna Blew Smoke Rings From Its Active Crater, A Cheeky Way of Mother Nature Showing Off Her Awesome Power. We see you, and we love you!
All in all, a pretty good mental take, for a Tuesday.
Add to that the breathtakingly gorgeous cherry blossoms dotting Central Park, warming temperatures teasing us that Spring days are nearly here and the idea of tucking away winter gloves, scarves, hats and heavy coats is making us feel optimistic right about now. We love knowing that gentler, sunnier running days are coming, along with fewer times we have to leave our muddy sneakers at the front door.
What are you feeling optimistic about?
