This is advice from Mel Robbins, aka our favorite advice-giver. She is talking about have the courage to make a change at work, but it applies to relationships as well.

She tells us: “Have the courage to make that change.” You will figure it out. Confidence doesn’t come first, courage comes first.

“I just got off the phone with a friend who got disappointing news at work. And here is what I want to tell you: You are not stuck where you are. The only place you ever get stuck is right up here (points to her head).

“So, whatever it is that you are thinking about doing – that change you want to make, the risk you want to take – do it. Do it! Because you are never going to feel ready. You are never going to feel confident. That’s not how confidence works, and that’s not how life works. Courage comes first.

“You have to find the courage to take the risk, to step into the unknown. And the courage to trust yourself. Because the fact is, You will figure it out. And you do deserve more.

“Today is the day to place that bet on yourself. When you tap into the courage to take that risk, to take control of your life, guess what happens? The confidence follows. Because you start to believe in yourself. So go frickin’ do it.”

Our Take: She nails it once again. There is nothing more terrifying than leaving a job, breaking up with a person, or moving. Yet we do it, and anyone who is willing to take the risk is also likely to be rewarded, either this time or the next.

We read: Take a risk. Or you will always work for someone who did. Be that boss, take that risk, have courage. And then pass it on. The way Mel is doing right here.
