Walking is great exercise, and sstudy after sstudy shows that walking even as little as 10 to 15 minutes a day will keep your heart, lungs, and mind healthy. Walking has proven to be an effective way to stave off diseases and practically ensure longevity. But going the same pace and distance every day won’t necessarily help you shed pounds or tone up, so if that’s the goal you need to mix it up.

Want to see more results? Enter 12-3-30, a treadmill workout created by then-24-year-old social media maven and YouTuber Lauren Giraldo. She shared her treadmill routine in a 2019 YouTube video, then posted it to Instagram and TikTok in 2020 when it caught on. Since then millions have posted gym selfies, tagging @twelvethreethirty.

How it works: Set yourt treadmill to a 12% incline, walk at 3 miles per hour for 30 minutes.

This easy workout is a great way to ramp up the intensity of your usual walk. All you need is a treadmill that has an uphill function. No treadmill? No problem. You can recreate this on a hill near your home.

Best Results: Try the 12-3-30 a few days a week and see if your walking workout turns into a calorie burner that can help you lose inches in just a few weeks.

As always, don’t start any new exercise without getting the green light from your trusted medical provider.

And for even faster toning results add the Daily 50 strength routine, every other day, which is 50 lunges (to each side) 50 squats (try to go deep every third one!), 50pushups (if too hard, place hands on a bench) a 50-second plank, and a 50-second wall sit.
