Everyone knows they should strength train and not just do cardio. I know it too. And yet I never really wanted to do it until I bought myself a workout bench. Here’s how it changed everything for me.

A bench changes everything. Why? It’s official looking, transforming my half-garage home gym into a place that looks like business. I also bought a rack of handweights and now I am eager to get full use of the weights and bench.
Sure you can use steps, or other raised surface. But nothing beats a workout bench for doing all sorts of moves that require you to push, pull, lower yourself down on one leg, or commit to slow and steady arm rows.
First of all you can lie down and do arm exercises with hand weights or bands, and get in exactly the right position to tone your upper body. This is not doable on the floor, on a bed or anywhere in my opinion other than on a workout bench.
Then I stumbled upon these dynamic moves from @kayla_itsines and whatever you may think of her (love, hate or feel indifferent) she can show you moves that are original and look both hard and fun at the same time.
Try getting a bench. The one I bought was not expensive ($49), was easy to put together (took about 10 minutes) and works for almost everything you might need (although it does not adjust in slope or slanting position).
It’s $49 from Amazon, available here. Get your bench, pick up some hand weights and get ready to love strength training and toning to music, without leaving home.
